CCAP 30周年回忆录系列 | Tariq Ali：我是一个 CCAPer—— 一段关于成长、归属与感恩的旅程

As CCAP celebrates its 30th anniversary, I find myself reflecting with deep emotion on what this institution has meant to me—not just professionally, but also personally. I was the first foreign Ph.D. student at CCAP, arriving in 2006 from Pakistan, and the only international student to have studied directly under Professor Jikun Huang. Even before I set foot in China, I had heard about Professor Huang’s pioneering work and CCAP’s reputation as one of China’s leading policy research institutes. That reputation and the people behind it brought me to Beijing—and changed the course of my life.
值此 CCAP 成立三十周年之际，我满怀深情地回顾这一机构给予我的深远意义——不仅在学术事业上，更在个人成长中。2006 年我从巴基斯坦来到中国，有幸成为 CCAP 的首位外国博士研究生，也是唯一一位直接师从黄季焜教授的国际学生。早在踏入中国之前，我便仰慕黄教授的开创性研究成果，并敬仰 CCAP 作为中国领先政策研究机构之一的卓著声誉。正是这份声誉与其背后卓越的学者群体，引领我来到北京，并深刻地改变了我的人生轨迹。
CCAP that supported and challenged me in equal measure. The mentorship I received, the friendships I formed, and the spirit of rigorous inquiry that defines CCAP shaped my values as a researcher and person.
CCAP既给予我支持，也给予我挑战。我所获得的指导、建立的友谊，以及CCAP所秉持的严谨探究精神，共同塑造了我作为研究者和个人的价值观。
First and foremost, I am deeply grateful to my advisor, Professor Jikun Huang, who graciously accepted me as his Ph.D. student despite my original assignment elsewhere. He, along with my co-advisors, Professor Linxiu Zhang and Professor Jinxia Wang, provided the guidance, training, and support that were crucial to my development as a researcher and as an individual. I am also indebted to Professor Huanguang Qiu and Professor Jun Yang, who were instrumental in helping me master the CGE model for my research. Their academic guidance and friendship were a great source of inspiration throughout my time at CCAP. I was also fortunate to receive immense moral support from Professor Ruifa Hu, Professor Xiangzheng Deng, Professor Junfei Bai, and Professor Zhigang Xu. Finally, my appreciation extends to the kind and helpful CCAP administrative staff, Yuxin Lin and Li Wang. I will always cherish the time I spent with them and the entire CCAP community.
首先，我向我的导师黄季焜教授致以最诚挚的谢意。尽管我最初并非被分配到他门下，黄教授依然慷慨地接纳我成为他的博士生。他与我的合作导师张林秀教授和王金霞教授所提供的悉心指导、专业训练和大力支持，对我作为一名研究人员和个人的成长至关重要。同时，我非常感谢仇焕广教授和杨军教授。他们不仅在我的研究中为我掌握CGE模型提供了关键帮助，他们的学术指引和友谊也成为我在CCAP期间巨大的灵感源泉。此外，我还有幸得到了胡瑞法教授、邓祥征教授、白军飞教授和徐志刚教授给予的宝贵精神支持。最后，我的感激之情也延伸至CCAP行政团队中善良而乐于助人的林玉仙和王莉。我将永远珍藏与他们以及整个CCAP大家庭共度的时光。
During my Ph.D. studies from 2006 to 2011, CCAP was not just an academic institution for me—it became a home. As an international student in a new country, adapting to a new language and culture, I found a welcoming community in CCAP that supported and challenged me in equal measure. The mentorship I received, the friendships I formed, and the spirit of rigorous inquiry that defines CCAP shaped my values as a researcher and person.
在我 2006 至 2011 年攻读博士学位的岁月里，CCAP 对我而言不仅仅是一所学术机构，更像是一个温暖的家。作为一名远在异国的留学生，面对语言与文化的挑战，我在 CCAP 找到了一个既热情接纳又严格要求的集体。在这里，我收获了宝贵的师承指导，建立了深厚的友谊，也深受 CCAP 所秉持的严谨治学精神的熏陶。这一切不仅塑造了我作为学者的价值观，也深刻影响了我作为一名个人的成长。
Over the past two decades, I have had the privilege of remaining connected to CCAP, both as an alumnus and a colleague. I am proud to be the only foreign graduate of CCAP to have spent more than 10 years working within and alongside the Center after graduation. This speaks not only to my own commitment but also to CCAP’s inclusive and collaborative culture. My career trajectory—from Ph.D. student to full professor—has been made possible in large part because of the platform, training, and networks that CCAP provided me.
在过去的二十年里，我有幸始终与 CCAP 保持紧密联系，既作为一名校友，也作为一名同事。我尤为自豪的是，作为 CCAP 唯一的外国毕业生，我在博士毕业后仍在该中心及其合作平台中工作逾十年。这不仅体现了我个人的执着与投入，更彰显了 CCAP 所具备的包容与合作精神。我的职业发展历程——从博士生到正教授——在很大程度上得益于 CCAP 所提供的平台、培养与广阔的学术网络。
CCAP is where I learned how to ask good questions. It is where I first presented my research to agricultural economics experts and policymakers in China. It is where I met collaborators who became lifelong friends. The bond I share with CCAP goes far beyond professional affiliations—it is a second home. Even now, no matter where I go, my heart remains with CCAP. I still draw strength from its values: integrity, impact, and excellence in evidence-based policy research.
CCAP 是我学会如何提出真正有价值问题的地方。这里是我第一次向中国的农业经济学专家与政策制定者展示自己研究成果的舞台；也是我结识一生挚友与长期合作伙伴的起点。我与 CCAP 的纽带早已超越了单纯的职业关联——它是我的第二个家。直至今日，无论身处何地，我的心始终与 CCAP 同在。我依然从 CCAP 的核心价值中汲取力量：坚守诚信、追求影响、并以卓越的实证研究推动政策进步。
As we mark 30 years of CCAP’s journey, I am filled with gratitude—for the doors that were opened to me, for the knowledge shared so generously, and for the belief that I belonged. Moreover, I carry the CCAP spirit with me in every classroom I teach in, in every project I pursue, and in every international collaboration I help build.
在 CCAP 走过三十载征程之际，我心中满怀感激——感激它为我开启的机遇之门，感激它慷慨分享的知识，更感激它给予我的归属感与信任。同时，我也始终将 CCAP 的精神铭记于心，并融入我所教授的每一堂课、我所推进的每一个项目，以及我所参与建设的每一次国际合作之中。
Looking ahead, I have no doubt that CCAP will continue to lead in shaping agricultural and resource policy not only in China but across the world. My hope is that CCAP will continue to nurture young minds, embrace diversity, and build bridges across borders—just as it did for me. I hope more international students and researchers can find what I found in CCAP: not just a place to work but a place to grow.
展望未来，我深信 CCAP 将继续在中国乃至世界范围内，引领农业与资源政策的研究与实践。我的愿望是，CCAP 能一如既往地培育青年才俊，包容多元视角，并搭建跨越国界的桥梁——正如当年它为我所做的一样。我也希望，能够有更多的国际学生和学者在 CCAP 找到我曾经找到的，不仅是一份工作的平台，更是一个成长的家园。
To the faculty, staff, students, and alumni, thank you for making CCAP what it is. And to CCAP: Happy 30th Anniversary. I am, and always will be, a proud CCAPer.
