IDRC Roundtable Meeting was successfully held in Beijing

Center for Chinese Agricultural Policy (CCAP) hosted a roundtable meeting for International Development Research Center (IDRC) at Beijing on November 28, 2013. The topic of the meeting is “Research-Policy Interface in the context of IDRC Supported Research in China”. About 20 participants attended the meeting, including Dr.Jean Lebel, President of IDRC, Ms.Julia Bentley, Counselor and Consul of Canadian Embassy, Dr. Anindya Chatterjee, Regional Director of IDRC Aisa Office, Dr. Bhim Adhikari, Senior Program Specialist of IDRC and some leaders and team members of IDRC supported projects in China. Most of them are from well-known research institutes and universities, such as Chinese Academy of Sciences, Peking University, Beijing Normal University, Captial Normal University and Chinese Agricultural University.At the beginning of the meeting, Mr.Quansheng Ge, General Director, on behalf of Institute of Geographical Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, welcomed Dr. Jean Lebel and all the other participants. Dr. Lebel expressed his thanks and gave a brief introduction on the aim of IDRC. He emphasized the importance to cooperate with Chinese research institutes. Ms. Bentley also gave a short presentation on Canada’s role in China. Whereafter, all the project leaders gave a presentation on research-policy interface with respect to the IDRC support research project respectively, which covering the project’s emerging results, capacity building and policy influence. Then Dr. Jintao Xu, Professor of Peking University, and Dr.Jikun Huang, Professor and Director of CCAP were invited to conclude and make comments on the implementation effects of the IDRC support projects in China. At the end of the meeting, on behalf of IDRC, Dr. Chatterjee owed his thanks to all the project teams and looked forward to a better cooperation in the future.
