Prof. Jikun Huang was invited to deliver a keynote speech in International Forum on Engineering Science and Technology for Food Security and Green Development

5 to 8 November 2022, hosted by the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Agricultural department of China academy of engineering, China agricultural university, national agricultural green development institute, China agricultural university college of resources and environment, green world agriculture development of international alliance, food security alliance to undertake "International Forum on Engineering Science and Technology for Food Security and Green Development" was held in Dali bai minority autonomous prefecture of yunnan province. The chairman of the forum, Professor Zhang Fusuo, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, stressed at the forum that the green development of agriculture is a profound revolution of the agricultural development concept. Scholars from home and abroad conducted in-depth discussions on food security, food system and green development in the new era. Prof. Jikun Huang, Director of the Institute for New Rural Development of Peking University, was invited to deliver a keynote report entitled "Ensuring Food Security and Green Agricultural Development in China: Current Efforts and Future Direction".
In his report, Professor Huang described the great achievements made by China's agriculture over the past four decades and the four stages of inclusive transition in which agricultural and rural development has gone through. At the same time, China's agricultural development faces the challenge of food security and sustainable development. On the basis of reviewing the relevant policies to ensure food security and promote the green development of agriculture, Professor Huang Jikun believes that the input on soil and water resources and scientific research should be increased in the future. As long as agricultural productivity is continuously improved, it will be possible to jointly promote food security and the development of green agriculture.
Finally, Professor Huang stressed that institutional innovation, policy innovation and investment innovation suitable for the transformation of rural economy in the new era are the key to achieving sustainable transformation of high-value agriculture that guarantees food security and promotes efficient, characteristic, green and low-carbon agriculture.
