In the academic report session, Mr. Zhao Kun, the director of Peking University, made an academic report titled Exploration and Development of National Rural Reform Pilot Area and Deepening the Reform of Rural Land System and Accelerating the Construction of a Strong Agricultural Country. The report was hosted by Prof. Huang Jikun, Director of Peking University Institute of New Rural Development, and attended by Prof. Liu Chunming, Dean of Peking University College of Modern Agriculture, and more than 60 key teachers and students of Peking University Institute of New Rural Development. Mr. Zhao introduced in detail the history and operation mechanism of China's Rural Reform Pilot Zones, and demonstrated the comprehensive platform role played by China's Rural Reform Pilot Zones since the 18th CPC National Congress, as well as the important results achieved. In terms of deepening the reform of the rural land system and accelerating the construction of a strong agricultural country, Director Zhao focused on the institutional system of agricultural development relying on the two-tier management system. Combining foreign cases of land and agricultural system reform and China's agricultural development history, Director Zhao emphasized that to accelerate the construction of a strong agricultural country, China must adhere to the two-tier management system in the countryside, deepen the reform of the rural land system, and stimulate the vitality of rural resource factors.

During the Q&A session, teachers and students asked questions enthusiastically, and Mr. Zhao answered the hot issues such as "separation of people and land" caused by the agricultural population moving to the cities and put forward the prospect of related work.

After the academic report, a delegation from the Department of Political Reform of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs held a discussion with the leaders and key teachers of the College of Modern Agriculture. Both sides had an in-depth discussion on the next step of cooperation and other issues.

This academic exchange enhanced the understanding of teachers and students of Modern College of Agriculture on the land issues in the process of building a strong agricultural country and realizing the modernization of agriculture and rural areas, and laid a foundation for better academic research and serving the government's decision-making.
