Prof. Huang Jikun led a team to visit the Chinese Academy of Thermal Sciences

On June 26-27, 2023, Professor Huang Jikun, Director of New Rural Development Institute (NRDI) of Peking University, led a team to the Chinese Academy of Thermal Sciences (CAATS) for a visit and exchanges, and his counterparts included Professor Sheng You, Vice President of NRDI of Peking University, and Researcher Huang Kaixing of CCAP.

On the morning of June 26, Prof. Huang Jikun and his delegation first visited the exhibition hall of Chinese Academy of Thermal Sciences (CAS), the Tropical Agricultural Science Knowledge Dissemination Center, and had a discussion with President Huang Sanwen in the meeting room of CAS. Both sides discussed in depth the key research areas for future cooperation.

After that, Prof. Huang Jikun and his team went to the Institute of Information of Chinese Academy of Thermal Sciences to have a deeper discussion with the leaders and researchers of the Institute. Both sides focused on new rural development, rural revitalization, agricultural and rural economy in hot areas, international tropical agriculture and scientific and technological development and other topics to carry out exchanges and discussions.

On the morning of June 27, Professor Huang Jikun was invited to give a lecture entitled "China's Agricultural Power and the Road to Common Wealth". The lecture was organized by the Academic Committee of the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences (CAAT), the Institute of Scientific and Technological Information of CAAT, and the Key Laboratory of Tropical Crop Information Technology Application Research of Hainan Province. More than 500 people from the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences, Hainan Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and other relevant units participated in the lecture through the offline online way. Prof. Huang Jikun shared three aspects of the development process of more than 40 years of reform and the inspiration for the future, taking the road of agricultural power with Chinese characteristics and the main policy orientation of future development. He believes that institutional innovation, technological progress, market reform and agricultural inputs are the main drivers of agricultural growth in China over the 40 years of reform, and discusses the effective path and future policy orientation of taking the road of agricultural power with Chinese characteristics in the light of China's national conditions and international context.
