On the morning of January 10, 2024, Peng Tingjun, Deputy Director General of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, led a team to visit the College of Modern Agriculture of Peking University, and Ye Quanbao, Director of Trade Division, and Liu Zuoxin, Deputy Director of Trade Division, visited and exchanged views with the team. Liu Chunming, Dean of Modern Agriculture College of Peking University, Huang Jikun, Dean of New Rural Development Research Institute, Liu Chengfang and Xipeng, Vice Dean of Modern Agriculture College of Peking University, attended the discussion.

At the symposium, Liu Chunming introduced the basic situation of the institute from the aspects of its historical origin, development orientation, disciplinary layout, team building, scientific research strength and talent cultivation. Huang Jikun introduced the situation of the New Rural Development Research Institute in the construction of the discipline of agricultural economics, focusing on the achievements of the construction of the think tank. Peng Tingjun introduced the main cooperation topics of the visit, focusing on the organization of the International Agricultural Market and Trade Forum. The symposium was chaired by Liu Chengfang.

Participants exchanged views on the contents and forms of cooperation between the two sides. The two sides will take advantage of their respective strengths in data collection, think-tank research and networking to strengthen policy research on agricultural markets and trade, further prepare the monthly consultation report of the Expert Committee on Agricultural Trade Early Warning and Relief of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and organize the International Agricultural Market and Trade Forum 2024.
