The Summer Strategic Seminar on Agricultural Economics at Peking University was successfully held
On July 20, 2025, the Summer Strategic Seminar on Agricultural Economics of the School of Advanced Agricultural Sciences, Peking University, was successfully held at Wang Kezhen Building of Peking University. All 13 teachers of the agricultural economics discipline participated in this strategic seminar. The seminar was co-chaired by Professor Jikun Huang, Dean of the School of Advanced Agricultural Sciences, Peking University, and Professor Jinxia Wang, Director of the China Center for Agricultural Policy (CCAP) at Peking University.

 

Focusing on a series of key topics, the one-day strategic seminar conducted extensive and in-depth discussions, including the development plan of the agricultural economics discipline, candidates for dual appointments in agricultural economics and applications for interdisciplinary collaborative research with their cooperative disciplines, the talent introduction work plan for the next stage of the discipline, arrangements related to the 30th anniversary activities of CCAP, and the work plan for the second half of the year of the New Rural Development Research Institute of Peking University (hereinafter referred to as the "New Rural Institute").
 
 
First of all, all participants focused on the long-term development plan and innovative breakthrough paths of the agricultural economics discipline, and conducted enthusiastic discussions combining the current status of the discipline with the needs of the times, so as to reach a consensus on the future development direction of the discipline.
 
In the subsequent agenda, the meeting reviewed the candidates for dual appointments in agricultural economics and the applications for interdisciplinary research projects with their cooperative disciplines. Finally, the interdisciplinary collaborative research applications of 6 dual-appointment candidates were approved, laying a foundation for promoting interdisciplinary integration and stimulating research vitality.
 
All members reached a consensus on the next stage of talent introduction work of the center, aiming to enrich the research team and enhance the core competitiveness of the discipline.
 
At the same time, the participants reported on the preparation progress of the series of activities for the 30th anniversary of the center, and clarified the core tasks and promotion plans for the next stage of work.
 
Finally, the responsible teacher of the New Rural Institute introduced the series of policy salons and rural revitalization forums to be organized in the second half of the year, which will play a positive role in further expanding the academic and think tank exchange platform and enhancing the social influence of the New Rural Institute.
