Vice President Bernhard Brümmer of the University of Göttingen Visits the School of Advanced Agricultural Sciences, Peking University

On June 3, Professor Bernhard Brümmer, Vice President of the University of Göttingen, Germany, and Professor Xiaohua Yu, Chair of Agricultural Economics in Developing and Transition Countries, visited the School of Advanced Agricultural Sciences at Peking University. Professor Jikun Huang, Dean of the School, Professor Chengfang Liu, Associate Dean, and Professor Xiaobing Wang, faculty representative, met with the delegation and held discussions on research collaboration, faculty and student exchanges, and other areas of mutual interest.

On behalf of the School, Professor Huang warmly welcomed the delegation from the University of Göttingen. He briefly introduced the history and development of the School of Advanced Agricultural Sciences, its academic programs, and the key research areas of the China Center for Agricultural Policy (CCAP) at Peking University. He expressed his hope that the two sides would further strengthen cooperation in agricultural and rural development.

Professor Bernhard Brümmer noted the long-standing friendship between China and Germany. He introduced the history of the University of Göttingen, its interdisciplinary academic structure, and its existing research platforms and resources. He also noted that the university is actively advancing English-taught programs and recruiting international scholars, further enhancing its international profile. He expressed his expectation for closer cooperation with the School of Advanced Agricultural Sciences in the field of agricultural sciences.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the opportunities and challenges for agricultural cooperation in the context of China-Germany bilateral relations. They reviewed existing academic collaboration and the foundation for future partnership, and agreed to further expand areas of cooperation. The two sides also exchanged views on promoting faculty and student visits and establishing joint graduate training mechanisms. They expressed their intention to strengthen collaboration in sustainable agriculture, food systems, and related fields, while continuing to deepen exchanges in research and talent cultivation.

Representatives from both sides also held discussions on topics of shared interest.
