Delegation from the Institute of Agricultural Economics and Development, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Visits CCAP for Exchange and Discussion

On the morning of January 12, 2026, a delegation of four led by Professor Xiangdong Hu, Director of the Institute of Agricultural Economics and Development (IAED), Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), visited the School of Advanced Agricultural Sciences, Peking University, and held an exchange symposium with faculty and students of the China Center for Agricultural Policy (CCAP). Members of the delegation included Haidong Wang, Director of the Human Resources Division of IAED, Yue Fang, Deputy Director, and Mo Zhou, among others.
The symposium was chaired by Professor Chengfang Liu, Vice Dean of the School of Advanced Agricultural Sciences and Deputy Director of CCAP. Professor Jikun Huang, Dean of the School, together with more than 30 postdoctoral fellows and PhD students from the Center, attended the meeting.

At the symposium, Director Hu Xiangdong first expressed his sincere gratitude for the warm reception by CCAP. He then gave a systematic overview of the development of IAED. Starting from its historical evolution, he briefly reviewed the Institute’s major achievements in agricultural economics theory and policy research, as well as its contributions to supporting the rural revitalization strategy. He further introduced the Institute’s organizational structure and staffing profile, outlined the development of its research platforms and innovative research teams, and presented its future development plans. In light of the need for high-quality development of the discipline of agricultural economics, Director Hu also expressed his strong expectation that this exchange would help attract outstanding young talents.

Subsequently, Deputy Director Yue Fang from the Human Resources Division of CAAS provided a detailed explanation of the recruitment policies. She offered a comprehensive and thorough introduction covering recruitment categories, specific hiring procedures, and key compensation packages, as well as support from national-level research platforms, career development pathways for young researchers, professional title promotion mechanisms, and related welfare. Her presentation provided clear and practical guidance for the postdoctoral fellows and PhD students in attendance regarding future career opportunities.

During the interactive discussion session, the atmosphere was lively and engaging. Faculty members and students actively raised questions on topics such as training programs for newly recruited staff, teaching responsibilities, and opportunities to participate in research projects. Director Hu and his delegation responded to each question based on the Institute’s practical experience, carefully addressing participants’ concerns regarding employment and further enhancing their understanding of IAED.

In closing, Vice Dean Chengfang Liu summarized the event, highly commending the outcomes of the symposium. She noted that the exchange had built a solid bridge for talent exchange and scientific research collaboration, laying a strong foundation for more precise alignment of talent needs. Both sides agreed that, taking this exchange as an opportunity, they would continue to strengthen cooperation between universities and research institutes in talent cultivation and scientific research, jointly explore frontier research directions in agricultural economics, and contribute wisdom and strength to agricultural science and technology innovation and the advancement of the rural revitalization strategy.
