Xiaobing Wang is a Boya Distinguished Professor and Ph.D. supervisor at Peking University and a Research Fellow at  China Center for Agricultural Policy (CCAP), Peking University. She has been selected for a national high-level talent program and serves as a member of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee of the 16th Central Committee of the China Zhi Gong Party.

Her research focuses primarily on agricultural science and technology development and policy, food security, and poverty reduction. As Principal Investigator, she has led one Major Program of the National Social Science Fund of China and four General Programs of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). She has also participated in more than 20 research projects, including the National Major Special Project on Genetically Modified Organisms, NSFC international cooperation projects, NSFC key projects, and key projects of the high-level think tank of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

Her research has been published in leading academic journals, including American Journal of Agricultural Economics, Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, World Development, Economic Development and Cultural Change, Food Policy, Global Food Security, Nature Biotechnology, and Chinese Rural Economy. From 2020 to 2024, she was named an Elsevier Highly Cited Chinese Researcher in the field of Agricultural and Forestry Economics and Management for five consecutive years. Her research has also received coverage from major Chinese media outlets, including the “Xuexi Qiangguo” (Study Xi) platform of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, Guangming Daily, and Science and Technology Daily.

She currently teaches two courses: Agricultural Economic History and Quantitative Research and Food Security: Political Economy and Psychological Perspectives. She serves as an Associate Editor of the SSCI-indexed Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization and as a member of the Editorial Board of Applied Economic Perspectives and Policy.
